CPT Players Make it Through First Stage of Q-School!

2008 PGA TOUR Q-SCHOOL – One of the most important weeks for professional golfers that do not have Nationwide Tour or PGA Tour status was a productive one for two Coastal Players Tour participants. Bryant Odom of St. Simon’s Island, GA and Travis Hampshire of Zephyrhills, FL both were able to advance to the second stage of 2009 PGA Tour Q-School.

Odom fired scores of 66-67-66-67 while tying for medalist at Florence Country Club in Florence, SC. The fourteen under total of 266 was good enough to tie two other players: John “Jumbo” Elliott, a lifetime member of the Nationwide Tour and Stephen Poole who finished T36th in the 2009 PGA Tour Wyndham Championship. Odom will most likely advance to second stage at Callaway Gardens – Mountain View Golf Course on November 12th-16th in Pine Mountain, GA.

Hampshire also gave a solid performance at first stage in St. Augustine, FL at St. Johns Golf and Country Club. A six under 282 placed him in a tie for 13th place and a ticket to the second stage. On a course that played over 7200 yards he was able to put together four solid rounds of 70-72-70-70. Hampshire is continuing his good play from the summer after winning the 2008 Ocala Open and the 2008 Coastal Players Tour Summer Tour Championship at Fleming Island.
